So, I got married and it was such a blessing to have it on December 31st. The weather was perfect and the ceremony was very meaningful and God-centered. My wife and I have now moved in to our apartment in Louisville, KY and in about a week I will start at Southern Seminary. I praise God with this wonderful opportunity and I can’t wait to see what He has in store for our life and our marriage and our ministry together. Stay tuned for more posts about our saving faith with Jesus in this post-Christian generation! Grace and peace to all the readers of this blog!

10 12 2009Sometimes in ministry one has to make a judgment call if an issue is of primary importance, or is of secondary or tertiary importance. Often, we pick the wrong battles to fight. C Michael Patton wrote a really good article on how to pick your own battles in theology here.

The Roe Effect
8 12 2009Full article by James Taranto found here.
“Roe v. Wade is a study in unanticipated consequences. By establishing a constitutional right to abortion, the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court no doubt thought they were settling the issue for good, accelerating a process of liberalization that was already under way in 1973. But instead of consensus, the result was polarization. The issue of abortion soon after, and for the first time, took a prominent place in national political campaigns. By 1980, both major political parties had adopted extreme positions–Republicans favoring a “pro-life” constitutional amendment to ban abortion, and Democrats opposing virtually all regulation on “pro-choice” grounds. Every presidential and vice-presidential nominee since then has toed the party line on abortion.“

Tim Keller Wants to Save Your Yuppie Soul!
30 11 2009“It’s a Sunday evening at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, and the pews are full. Redeemer is a conservative Evangelical Christian congregation, but the parishioners don’t fit the easy Bible Belt stereotypes. They are a cross-section of yuppie Manhattanites—doctors, bankers, lawyers, artists, actors, and designers, some of them older, most of them in their twenties or thirties. The peppy Christian-pop anthems, performed by Broadway-caliber singers and working jazz professionals, seem to go by in double time, the faster the better to get to the main event, the weekly sermon, delivered by pastor Tim Keller.“
